About Rwanda Bridges to Justice (RBJ)

Rwanda Bridges to Justice (RBJ) is a leading non-governmental organization committed to advancing human rights, ensuring access to justice, and promoting equality for all in Rwanda. As an affiliate of International Bridges to Justice (IBJ), RBJ works tirelessly to eliminate discrimination, empower marginalized communities, and strengthen legal protections for vulnerable groups.

With generous funding from the European Union, RBJ is implementing the groundbreaking project: "Empowering Voices: Fostering Equality and Combating Discrimination in Rwanda." This initiative seeks to collaborate with grassroots organizations to amplify impact, drive systemic change, and create a more inclusive society.

Invitation for Partnership

RBJ is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from passionate, community-driven Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that champion human rights and equality in Rwanda. We are looking for partners who:

  • Have a strong presence in local communities.

  • Demonstrate a proven track record in advocacy, anti-discrimination, and social justice.

  • Can design and implement impactful projects that align with Rwanda’s national equality goals.

Successful partners will receive financial support ranging between 5,000,000 RWF and 6,000,000 RWF to implement their proposed initiatives.

Thematic Focus Areas

Proposed projects must align with at least one of the following key themes:

  1. Empowering Gender Equality Initiatives

    • Promoting women’s rights and leadership.

    • Combating gender-based violence (GBV).

    • Advocating for equal opportunities in education and employment.

  2. Promoting Inclusive Governance and Diversity

    • Strengthening participation of marginalized groups in decision-making.

    • Advocating for policies that protect minority rights.

    • Encouraging diversity in public and private sectors.

  3. Enhancing Peace and Security through Anti-Discrimination Efforts

    • Addressing hate speech and xenophobia.

    • Promoting social cohesion and reconciliation.

    • Supporting conflict resolution initiatives.

  4. Advancing Justice and Anti-Discrimination

    • Ensuring equal access to legal representation.

    • Fighting against systemic discrimination in judicial processes.

    • Raising awareness on human rights laws and protections.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered, interested organizations must:
✔ Be a registered NGO operating in Rwanda.
✔ Have experience in human rights, advocacy, or community development.
✔ Demonstrate strong community engagement and grassroots impact.
✔ Show financial and operational capacity to manage project funds.
✔ Submit a clear, innovative, and feasible project proposal.

Selection Process

  1. Submission of EOI – Organizations must complete and submit the official application form.

  2. Review & Shortlisting – RBJ will evaluate proposals based on impact, feasibility, and alignment with project goals.

  3. Notification of Selected Partners – Successful applicants will be contacted for further engagement.
